Graphics are certainly important, but the gameplay is truly what made the THPS series the success it is today. The game itself is merely a step up in terms of additions. Initial impressions would suggest that it's only a slight upgrade to THPS 2 for the system. The PS1 game is working on age old architecture and it shows. Visually, there's no comparison between the games. Though it shares the same levels and skaters, there are a host of major differences between these 2 games. The Casper Flip Glitch allowed you an almost infinite multiplier for the PS2, but due to speed, the GC game doesn't allow this.Īlterations such as these are mainly minimal between those 2 next-gen systems, but the PS1 game was developed by a different company, Shaba. Gameplay is mostly the same, only minor changes were applied. The graphics received a little upgrade for the GC but the movies were downsampled to suit Nintendo's proprietary DVD format.
